From the moment Jayne Ashley Chase arrived in Spain four years ago she has been rescuing animals and like most people the problem here has been ‘what does she do with them once she has taken them in’.
At one point Jayne had dogs in the house, on the roof, in the garden, everywhere. Jayne did all the usual things like speaking to the local rescue centres; but no one was able to help her. With a husband saying that this wasn’t what he came to Spain for and seeing her stressed out and turning their home into a dog sanctuary, Jayne's new life in Spain was becoming very difficult.
There was light at the end of the tunnel though, when Jayne met and formed a friendship with some wonderful German people, who had diligently been helping this regions abandoned animals find fantastic homes abroad for years.
Most of us who love dogs here in Spain have so many already, so finding the dogs and cats homes in other parts of Europe where families really want them and are not just taking themin because they feel they should has became a vital part of this work.
Now Jayne has become independent and set up NewLife4Spanishanimals.This has enabled her to be free to help other rescue centres and the many kind people who take abandoned animals into their
This small group of people consist of just Jayne and Anja here in Spain, Gisella and Staphanie in Germany and many home checkers in all parts of Europe and kind members of the public who take the dogs and cats with them on the plane to join their new families at the other end.
It is very, very hard work but the rewards come when they receive such lovely photos and emails from the new families who have adopted these abandoned animals.
Another problem which has caused great distress to all the animal supporters recently is when British people have decided to go back to the UK and consequently book their dogs into the vets to be destroyed.
Jayne asks that everyone should think about obtaining a pet passport for their dog as none of us know what’s around the corner, and these animals deserve better? She also asks that people make provision in their wills for their pets?
The dogs and cats of Spain have touched Jayne's heart; they have such a wonderful spirit, loving us humans no matter how badly they have been treated by mankind.
Jayne considers it a privilege to be able to help the abandoned animals, even though at times she has found the work heartbreaking and exhausting. All help is welcome so if there is anything you can do for them then please contact this website or Jayne on ..626 008 817....
