Why did we call it Taras Retreat?
There are a number of motives for the name Tara’s Retreat the first being my sweet Shih Tzu dog Tara, who died in August, she was a very special dog and I can’t think of a more fitting tribute to a little lady who was loyal and sweet and very often a great comfort to me. I had called her Tara originally because I just love that scene in Gone with the Wind, when Scarlet O’hara is at her wit’s end and says ‘I won’t worry about this now, I’ll worry about it tomorrow, I know what I’ll do I’ll go back to Tara’ and then there is this dramatic drum rolling and Scarlett looking peaceful as if all her worries will be gone once she gets back to Tara. Of course you had to have seen the film; I watched it about 20 times and I knew every line by heart once. Not bad going for a 4 hour film.

Tara’s Poem
Tara
Those great big eyes looking up at me,
Always like a little pup she was my sweetest tink,
Knowing when I was down and sad
she would come to me her tail would wag,
a little kiss, a lick a nudge, then I would feel life’s not so tough.
Never naughty, never bad she sometimes looked a little sad
But Tinks loved life, her walks her food
and never did Tara have a bad mood.
Her little heart was good and kind but not very strong,
so didn’t have so much time.
Even though some days she was tired, to play and to walk,
Oh how she tried.
Sweetest dog in all the world was loved so much I know she knew.
Now I know she still looks up at me but now at peace from a heavenly view.
Precious Tara, Tinks so sweet, one day in heaven again we’ll meet.

Religious philosophies
In some religious philosophies Tara is a Goddess. Tara or Arya Tara, also known as Jetsun Dolma, is a female Bodhisattva typically associated with Tibetan Buddhism. She is the "mother of liberation", and represents the virtues of success in work and achievements. Adopted by Buddhism from Hinduism by the 3rd century B.C., Tara appears in Buddhism, Jainism, and particularly, Tibetan Lamaism, as a complex array of manifestations: goddess of ascetism and mysticism, mother creator, protectress of all humans as they cross the sea of life.
So in summary I think ‘Tara’s Retreat’ is the perfect name for this special place in the village of La Magdalena.
